Hi everybody,
I hope you have all had a nice break from football and netball and are reinvigorated heading into the remainder of the 2018 Season.
This weekend our Footballers and Netballers head to Strathfieldsaye for our Round 12 clashes. It will be a test for our Senior footballers, with Strathfieldsaye sitting comfortably on the top of the League ladder, while we are sitting in third spot.
Our A Res Netballers are also third on the ladder so will be hoping to hold that position too.
The Reserves are still in finals contention and we wish them luck as they push on towards a top five position.
By the time we have our next home game we hope to have the next batch of 150th Anniversary Plaques starting off our second board. We will endeavour to fill both boards before the end of the season, so if you would like to purchase a plaque go to the website www.kynetonfnc.com.au or email Marg Barry taradalewine@gmail.com or call Marg on 0417547270.
The KFNC has recently completed the Rural Challenge Gender Equality program. We are the first sporting club in the Region to graduate with our own Gender Equality Action Plan. The plan aims to ensure our Club is an inclusive and safe space for all women, girls, men and boys who are involved with the Club on and off the football ovals and netball courts.
If anybody is interested in getting more involved at the Club at any level please email kfnc.secretary@gmail.com and Tyson will pass on to the appropriate department. Maybe you would like to consider being involved in writing grants, generating sponsorships, providing a service or volunteering??
Just recently I met a couple out of the blue, and one of them offered to write the upcoming weekend game on the chalkboard outside the oval for us each week. This is a small job, but a greatly appreciated and welcomed helping hand in a Club where there is so much to do.
No football for our Senior Women this weekend, but they had a great game against the Bendigo Thunder at the Showgrounds last weekend. The Bendigo Thunder are a powerhouse in the women’s league, however as we were low on numbers, the Thunder lent us some players in a game that was played with great sportsmanship. Thanks Bendigo Thunder! The ladies all went on to the Shamrock, their Team sponsor for after-match replenishing!
Our Junior Teams are back on the field this weekend, some home games at the bottom oval and Showgrounds on Saturday and Sunday while some Junior games are away. We congratulate those players who played representative football for the Bendigo V-Line Clup (Under 15’s) Dom Bennington, Harry Law, Bailey McGee, Louis Thompson, Brodie Brown and Zac Ryan. Good luck to Dom, Harry and Bailey who progressed and will now try out for the Gippsland Cup in September.
Our next Senior home round against Gisborne is the “Wear it Pink” round, supporting Breast Cancer Network Australia. Sunday July 22nd will also be our “Sunday Sips” afternoon at the Social Club rooms… Come along and watch the U15 Girls, U18 Youth Girls then the Womens football at 230 pm.
Go Tigers!
